{"id":2,"date":"2026-04-29T03:20:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-29T03:20:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sc4p.ca\/blog\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2026-04-29T00:19:40","modified_gmt":"2026-04-29T04:19:40","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sc4p.ca\/blog\/about\/","title":{"rendered":"About Us"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In response to the genocide of Palestinians being conducted by Israel, we formed Simcoe County 4 Palestine as a coalition of diverse community members, students, labour workers, health professionals and organizations who recognized the need for coordinated solidarity work in support of Palestinian rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our aim is to unify people and businesses across the Simcoe County Region who seek to uphold International Law and hold the Canadian Government accountable for its role in the ongoing genocide against Palestinian people and Indigenous Peoples both here on Turtle Island and around the world.\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Our demands are reasonable&#8230;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>ARMS EMBARGO NOW<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>END THE SIEGE ON PALESTINIANS<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>END THE ILLEGAL OCCUPATION<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>RELEASE ALL PALESTINIAN HOSTAGES<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Points of Unity<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1. Centring Palestinian stories and experiences<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>SC4P grounds its work in the voices, knowledge, and demands of Palestinians. Especially those directly impacted by occupation, displacement, and ongoing state-sanctioned Israeli violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2. Standing with Indigenous peoples globally<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We recognize the shared struggles of Indigenous nations resisting colonialism across the world, including the First Nations, Inuit, and M\u00e9tis peoples on whose lands we organize. We commit to solidarity rooted in self\u2011determination and mutual liberation. Freedom for one is freedom for all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3. Naming the historical and ongoing reality of occupation<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The violence unfolding in Palestine cannot be separated from more than 75 years of Israeli terrorism. The events of October 7th exist within this context. We focus on the root causes: apartheid, dispossession, and ethnic cleansing; and support Palestinians in their right to resist these conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4. Rejecting the false conflation of anti\u2011Zionism with antisemitism<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We oppose antisemitism in all its forms. We also affirm that criticizing Zionism \u2014 a political ideology rooted in racial hierarchy and colonial expansion \u2014 is not antisemitic. Challenging Zionism is part of confronting all systems that fuel racism, including antisemitism itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>5. Committing to an anti\u2011oppressive movement space<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>SC4P is dedicated to building a space grounded in dignity and justice.
